A choir for every voice

Wolf Willow Women’s Voices, under the direction of Sue Chick Denton, is the Bow Valley’s first women’s-only choir since 2003. Since our inception in the fall of 2025, more than 60 women have come out to sing in an inclusive, encouraging, and accepting community.

We welcome all levels of experience and inexperience. Please come and join your voice with ours!

Do I need to audition?

No—Wolf Willow Women’s Voices is a non-auditioned choir that welcomes all women’s voices, regardless of experience.

Do I need to read music?

No—music reading is not a requirement. We provide audio tracks for learning parts, and we break everything down during rehearsals. While music reading can be helpful, we make learning by ear and repetition as easy as possible.

What about performances?

At the moment, we do not have any major performance goals. There may be opportunities to share our music with the community, but we are not preparing for a concert or significant presentation.

What kind of music do we sing?

We draw repertoire from a combination of genres—from beautiful Celtic-inspired lullabies to jazz standards and gospel—as well as pieces written or arranged for women’s vocal ensembles. Some will be familiar, and some will be new.

Can I try it before signing up?

Yes, you can! Come to one session before deciding if you would like to join us—we’re pretty sure you’ll want to come back.

What if I can’t afford the fees?

We understand. The Bow Valley is an expensive place to live. If finances are the only barrier to participating, please email Sue. Bursaries are available; we would much rather have you singing with us than have the cost of living hold you back.

When and where do we meet?

Wolf Willow Women’s Voices meets on Thursday evenings from 5:30–7:00 pm at Ralph Connor United Church on Main Street in Canmore.

Three sessions of ten weeks each are offered, beginning in September, January, and March. You can participate in one, two, or all three as your life and plans allow.

The fall session begins on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
